Less is more, more or less etc etc.
I've been through a massive wardrobe overhaul lately, tired of the same outfits and poor choices I've come to the conclusion that my wardrobe needs a massive refresh. Enter in the staples; the pieces that I live in and wear in any occasion. My staples consist of quality denim jeans, white linen tee's, a black blazer, leather skirt, comfortable flats and a small array of detailed tops/bodysuits. The main reasoning behind why I prefer to keep my bottoms basics and change up tops is I find this easier to create new and interesting outfits without feeling like I'm repeating myself too much. And yes, I religiously wear denim jeans even on a night out.
My last leather skirt lasted me four years, croc print and all it finally gave way after hundreds of wears and three zippers. I'm a big believer of make do & mend, there's no reason to throw something out because of a loose thread or a broken zip so when the fabric of my skirt started to deteriorate I knew it was finally time to give in. Almost as soon as this happened I was contacted by August the Fourth to shoot their AM to PM skirt (I still can't believe the coincidence) and thankfully I have a new croc leather skirt to last me. I'm sure I don't need to convince you but a leather skirt is such an investment piece, the cost per wear will make this wardrobe addition probably one of the most economical purchases (even if you splurge on a genuine leather one).
